Larry Talbot returns to his fathers estate and while there he meets a beautiful woman. One night while attempting to save her from an attack he's injured by a wolf and is informed by a gypsy at a local carnival that he is now cursed to turn into a werewolf at every full moon.

A landmark horror film and rightly seen as a classic this Universal movie is still atmospheric and creepy even today. Claude Rains, Evelyn Ankers and Lon Chaney Jr as The Wolf Man all do a wonderful job in their roles. Bela Lugosi also make a small cameo as the son of the gypsy woman. He wanted the lead role but didn't get it so opted for this one. The script is very good giving us the oft quoted "Even a man who is pure at heart, and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autum moon is bright." Lon Chaney also played the werewolf in all five of Universals werewolf movies. The transformation scene is still fun to watch and overall this film is a must see for amyone interested in horror movie history.
