Mardi Gras Massacre (1978)

During the New Orleans Mardi Gras parades a man lures young women to an isolated place where her performs a ritual on them which involves removing their hearts. The police have to try and hunt him down before he finishes and escapes.

This is one for the bad movie lovers, and even then it may be too awful even for those. The acting is poor as is the dialogue. The effects are quite gory but not very well done, it's pretty much the same scene of a stomach being cut open and a heart removed repeated over and over. Strangely, not only did this micro budget nonsense get banned here in the UK as a video nasty, it managed to stay on the list to become one of the infamous final 39. Anyone watching this will never figure out how this happened or why it remained there, but because of that it became well known and even has a tiny cult following now. I actually don't mind it, it's like a poorer H.G. Lewis movie but as a bad movie it's worth at least one watch. Go in to it after a few beers and with an open mind for best results.
