After his friend is murdered and his sister disappears an American music student goes in seach of her only to discover it all may be connected to a book on alchemy. As he digs deeper his own life is plunged into danger.

Dario Argento's second movie in the Three Mothers trilogy is a stunning feast for the eyes and ears. Amazing set pieces, a wonderful score and a great cast make this my favourite Argento movie. Many will say this is a perfect example of style over substance, and that maybe true, but the style doesn't get much better than here. Go into it as if you're watching a dream and you'll find so much to enjoy.

The wonderful cast includes Leigh McCloskey, Irene Miracle, Daria Nicolodi, Veronica Lazar, Ania Pieroni and Feodor Chalipan Jr. The lighting looks amazing, the scene of Irene Miracle being harrased by a rotting corpse in a water filled underground room is a highlight, the acting is great from all involved and some of the gore is excellent too, although this isn't really a gory film. A couple of stabbings, eyes hanging down a face, a rat attack, a burning and a throat slicing are all well done though.

The firery climax is exciting and as said the score is amazing, one of my favourite soundtracks from any movie. One of my top 20 films so it'll be no suprise that I'd highly recommend this one.
