Halloween (1981)

Michael Myers continues to stalk and terrorize Laurie Strode after she's taken to the local hospital as Dr Loomis tries to track him down and stop him once and for all.

Picking up where Halloween ended, we're plunged straight into the action. The main difference this time though is that Halloween 2 is a lot gorier, more violent and even a little mean spirited, and as such it was poorly received on it's release. Its reputation has improved greatly over the years though and is now considered a worthy sequel. The acting is great and it has some genuinely creepy moments as Laurie is stalked through the strangely quiet hospital corridors. The effects are good and we got stabbings, shootings, a nasty scene of a face being scalded in boiling water and a great looking full body burn.

It's not as atmospheric or scary as the original but does ramp up the brutality, wether that's a good thing or a bad thing will depend on each viewer, but overall it's a good follow up and if they had ended it here it would have been fine. They didn't of course and some of the other sequels were mediocre at best.
