Aliens (1986)

After escaping the terrifying encounter with the alien Ripley is found floating through space 57 years later. She decides to join a group of marines on a mission to discover why communication with a colony has stopped only to find out an alien queen and her offspring have found them first.

Wether you think this sequel is better than the original is all down to personal taste, but, there's no denying this action packed follow up to the 1979 classic Alien is nothing short of fantastic!. Another superb cast, great dialogue, lots of edge of the seat action and suspense and some amazing special effects that just go to show that practical effects will top CGI everytime. I love this movie and still watch it on a regular basis and always find little details I've missed before. Definitely a film you need to see more than a handful of times.

The alien queen is a stunning creation and is genuinely terrifying, especially during the action packed climax. As much as I love this one, I will admit, and I may be in the minority, that I prefer the original, just slightly. I like the claustraphobic feel to it, and the tension and fear factor is far better. As said it's down to personal taste as to which is your favourite, but it's always best to watch both back to back for maximum enjoyment.
