Alien (1979)

The crew of a commercial spacecraft are woken early to investigate a strange signal of unknown origin. After encountering an alien lifeform that attaches itself to one of the crew members the fight for suvival begins.

What can be said about this amazing movie that hasn't been said hundreds of times already?. This is a classic for a reason and is still as scary and exciting as it was back when it was first released. A great cast, wonderful sets, special effects that still hold up, a great creature design thanks to the late great H.R. Giger and lots of wonderful atmosphere make for a movie that deserves repeated viewings.

What makes this work so well is the slow build and the fact they keep the alien itself in the shadows for most of the movie, something modern horror seems to forget just how effective this can be. Just go watch it again, you know you want too!.
